A Large Portion of 2019 was spent "completing" The Chroma Museum, artistic renderings of historical LGBTQI figures/organizations/allies predominantly pre-Stonewall. If interested please visit : thestephenmeadchromamuseum.weebly.com/
2019 was fortuitous in the fact that editors continued to accept work used in collage-films and sound-collages but which had not appeared in print. A case in point for this is Randal Burd from “Sparks of Calliope” even nominating one of these pieces for a Pushcart Prize! I am very thankful for this and for the phenomenon that words/poems continue to arrive beyond my white-out squalls of writer’s block, that static fog creaking with age like the rest of me. This has happened while, for the past couple of years actually changing how I write: longhand, except for fragments on sticky notes, going more by the wayside as I sit facing a blank windows document, without even a cigarette in hand, right at a monitor. To go from being nicotine-fueled where each drag seemed to draw the work forth and find myself more just sitting there, staring, having language plod out, plink-plop with the keys, is perhaps more physically healthy while making the experience of creativity less of an organic compulsion. I have no idea if I or the work is any better for becoming such a structurally-enforced ritual. I only know I must take it as it comes, still as if I am a vessel, just with more cracks in the glaze.
